Wedding Photography Packages
Weddings are expensive; there is no denying that. But it is certainly possible to find the perfect wedding photography package if you go into your search armed with a few tips.
Wedding photography packages are not standardized. For those in search of an affordable package option, that equates to a world of choices. Depending on the photographer you choose, the style of photography, the number of hours you require your photographer, the base rate charged and the number of extra services you want, the cost of packages can vary almost indefinitely.
One way to watch your budget is to choose a better photographer. Yes, you read that correctly. If you choose a very skilled, reputable, higher-end photographer who will take magnificent photos, you may fork out a little more upfront to get them, but you can save money in the end by ordering a smaller wedding photography package. Rather than saving on by hiring a mediocre photographer and ordering a slew of average photographs, splurge on the photographer and save on the number of photos. In most cases, you can order more photos later when money may be more abundant.
Another way to save on your photos is to forego a traditional wedding photography package entirely. Nowhere is it written that you need to purchase a package of photos. In this age of digital photography, you can purchase digital images from the photographer and then print only the ones you truly want, when you want them, at a fraction of professional printing rates.
There is also a middle road, offering the best of both of these worlds. You can purchase a basic wedding photography package, perhaps with a small album and a few photo reprints, and also the original photos (either digital files or negatives) from which you can order your own reprints as and when you want them.
Wedding photography packages, then, are as unique as you are. Look for ways to customize your package to meet your needs and your budget. Remember: You are hiring the photographer, not the photos. You don’t necessarily have to buy a package right away, if ever. Consider purchasing the original media and printing your own photos, or choosing a less expensive package from a better photographer.
Whichever route you choose, do your research. Discuss your options and work with your photographer to find a wedding photography package that will stay within your budget without compromising your vision. |
